CityofAngel's Top Ten Angel Episodes

BCangel's Top 10 Angel episode list:

#10. 3.01 Heartthrob - I'm a sucker for anything dealing with Angel or Angelus' past. I loved James [Ron Melendez], and his true feelings of love for his lost partner. There is also the classic line "I lived. You just existed."
#9. 1.01 City of - The episode that hooked me into the series. Seeing Angel's wrist stake contraption and him kicking a vampire out of a highrise window just made me a happy camper. It set the tone for the entire series: dark, yet deliciously humorous.
#8. 4.06 Spin the Bottle - One of the best comic episodes. It was great to see everyone portraying their old personalities. Alexis Denisof displayed some impeccable slapstick comedy. And Fred jonesing for some pot? Priceless stuff.
#7. 2.10 Reunion - If for nothing else, Angel permitting the lawyer slaughter was Both shocking and unexpected. His line, "And yet somehow, I just can't seem to care" was brutal. We hadn't seen Angel dark like that in a long time. It was refreshing.
#6 2.11 Redefinition - Full fledged solitary, brooding Angel action. Him setting Darla and Dru on fire was amazing. We got a taste of Angelus without him losing his soul.
#5 3.03 That Old Gang of Mine - J. August's first stand-alone episode. He did an impeccable job defining his character here. The shocking use of guns (no pun intended) made the episode more real than most. It showed how demons aren't always supernatural.
#4 3.13 Waiting in the Wings - A very classy episode. Penned by Joss Whedon, it had his classic combination of superb action, feeling, and sexiness. Alexis Denisof shone once again as he conveyed numerous emotions.
#3 1.11 Somnambulist - This episode was like a miniature thriller film! Jeremy Renner did an outstanding job portraying the twisted mind of Penn. There were a lot of nice character dynamics including Kate/Angel and Angel/Penn.
#2 3.16 Sleep Tight - Amazing. Powerful. Heart-wrenching. Take your pick of adjectives to describe this insane episode. It had unbelievable plot twists including Angel losing Connor, and Wesley getting his throat slit. They threw tons of good stuff right before one of the most brutal hiatus' ever. Unforgettable episode.
#1 4.07 Apocalypse Nowish - As far as I am concerned, this is the most bad-ass episode ever produced on the show. The face-off with The Beast was the best fight ever filmed for the series. It had everything: gun-toting Wesley, an unstoppable crazy looking monster, and twisted sex between Connor and Cordelia. With an actual rain of fire across Los Angeles, this episode made me giddy. Never had there been so much danger for Angel and company.
