"How do I not give that one away?"
|
Like so many of her co-stars, Elizabeth first auditioned for the part of Buffy. She did of course get the part of Amy and she tells us a little bit about her, "As far as the character of Amy is concerned, I think there is a little bit in us all that sort of feels different or on the outside and really wants to belong and I think people relate to that." Elizabeth lost her mother at age fifteen and she says, "I think I had a challenging childhood and Amy did too. Amy was not that powerful a witch, I think she was really just coming into her craft, I think that the character of my mother was so much stronger." She laughs as someone mentions the moving eyes in her mother's statue, "I don't like that the eyes move, it freaks me out!" A young lady asks, "Who is the most powerful, you or Willow?" and Elizabeth answers, "Willow...she's had more time to practice!" as she gives us a sly smile. Elizabeth will be first seen in the new season of Buffy in episode 9 (Smashed) and 10 (Wrecked) and then in episode 12, so far, as a young man in the audience asks, "When you do come back are
you a bit miffed with Willow?" Another smile as she replies, "You know I said, 'you can bring back Buffy from the dead!, But you can't de-rat me? What's up with that!' " she laughs. In answer to if she had any really good lines in the new episodes, she grins and replies, "How do I not give that one away? (dramatic pause) Sure!" she states with a smile that draws another round of laughter.
Elizabeth has mainly worked in the past with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Stewart Head and Allyson Hannigan although she has just for the first time worked with James Marsters. So who would she most like to do a romantic scene with? The audience laughs as Elizabeth rolls her eyes and smiles, "I think James would be fun, but that would really complicate things," and with a bewitching smile she adds "let's put it that way!"
Elizabeth puts the fear in Talk-show hosts!
|
Her favourite episode is Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered when her spell goes awry, "My favourite scene is when Xander is walking down the hall in slow motion to the music," she sings to us, 'Got the love, got the love ...,' "and everyone is looking at him. I was standing at the end of the hall as he was walking down and it was just the funniest thing," she laughs, "I love that scene!" Elizabeth says that one of the things she loves about the show is the fun and the inside jokes (like the aforementioned eyes moving) and she recalls something from one of her episodes, "People wrote into the website complaining that the library door had previously opened in and then in the next episode it opened out, so no continuity. So Joss, being very funny, made the door open both in and out! The next episode somebody ran straight into the door!", this brings another round of applause and laughter from the audience.
Elizabeth is a self confessed pet freak and has a cat called Trevor who weighs 24 pounds, "He is a beast, that's what we call him, 'The Beast' " she laughs! She is an outdoors, athletic kind of gal and loves yoga, mountain biking and skiing. She also loves reading books and says, "I am a magazine and newspaper junkie, if it is lying next to me I can't help it, I have to read it! I am also a Crossword Puzzle junkie and I do these on set in-between scenes." Asked if she were a guest on Jerry Springer, "What would the show be about?" Elizabeth very sportingly jokes, "Your man ain't all that, I know cause I've been with him too!", which brings hoots of laughter again from the audience. This girl is too funny!
ãElizabeth is contracted with Buffy at the moment , but as for the future she says "I love film and television, I grew up doing theatre and I kind of tried to get away from that in my adulthood, just to do something different, to challenge myself. I would love to produce, directing to me would be too overwhelming but I would love to write." I can't wait to meet her again next May!
Sunday and Closing Ceremony
Bad Girl Linda fits right in with Mercedes, Liz, Julie and Clare

Sunday morning started off with the VIP guest group photo session - Sylvia summed it all up perfectly by commenting on just how gorgeous these four women are, all looking happy and radiant for the photos: "These are no ordinary women; 2 vamps, a witch, and a god!" she stated. Oh how very true! Julie came out with yet another 'quotable classic' by telling us to: "Get down, you Punky Farty Weasel"! Much to my helpless amusement. Sunday itself was a bit of a rush, there were the final guest talks to catch, Cat and Sylvia attended for evening's festivities - which according to them was exactly the same as Friday and Saturday night i.e. dancing! With the celebratory thanks and farewells to the lovely guests of the convention. And so it was all over for another convention, very soon after that is another StarFury convention: BadGirls and Wild Boys!
At 11am Sean came in to announce that we were having a 2-minute silence. For those of you abroad, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month ('Remembrance Day'), it's tradition in the UK to hold 2-minutes silence as a mark of respect for service men and women who have lost their lives during the course of war. We also buy a poppy flower every year to wear. Everybody complied, and you could have heard a pin drop. It was heart-warming in a way to see that in amongst all the silliness that was going on at the convention, we could all club together for a few minutes to remember just how much people have given in the past, so that we can have all this fun and frivolity today.

So we must say a huge mention to Sean Harry for being the most fabulous and accommodating host. The convention was very well organised, everyone got to meet the guests and have a good time, none of the CoA staff heard a single complaint from the attendees, and we had no complaint to make ourselves - it was truly great. BadGirls was nowhere near as large or busy as Nocturnal, so smaller audience size made the whole event more intimate. The hotel was much better organized too - which made for a lot more relaxed fun. Nocturnal itself will be smaller next year, so expect more of the same good quality conventioneering! An equally big thank you must also go out to all the convention staff, and to most of the stewards, for being helpful and keeping things running smoothly. My lasting memory is walking round with a permanent smile on my face after a couple of guys independently told me I looked a bit like Clare Kramer! Oh wow! Now all I need is the red dress and the minions! (And she does you know!)
