The beautiful Mercedes eager to hear every question
|
The inevitable question is asked, "What is it like doing the love scenes with James Marsters?" All the women in the audience at this point seem to lean in closer or is that just me! She laughs as she says, "It was the first love scene that I had ever done!" She goes on to tell us that, because she knows him really well and they communicate well it was fun, although embarrassing too. She adds, "We tried to make a joke of it and just played around with each other!" Then follows a five minute recess as the audience tries to recover from their hysterical laughter! Poor Mercedes blushes and laughs, "No, no, no!" as she attempts to explain that we have misunderstood and that it was really uncomfortable with everyone watching so they had to try and make it fun!
Mercedes was thrown in at the deep end when she returned toBuffy in that the love scene was the first thing they shot and the same thing happened when she appeared in the Angel episode, Disharmony! She recalls, "I arrived, said hi to everyone and then they put me on the stage and made me sing! It was so embarrassing, I can't sing to save my life!! I warned everyone to wear earplugs!" Mercedes laughs with the audience. Apart from that though she feels that the episode was excellent for her character development. When asked about future hopes for her character she says, "Although Spike has been really mean to me, I would like to see the two of them get back together! I love working with James!"
Apart from The Harsh Light Of Day, her all time favourite episode of Buffy is Hush and Mercedes talks a little about Joss Whedon, "Joss is very direct about what he wants but although he is a genius it is like all kept inside, he is a little eccentric but that is just his genius!"
For those of you who want to know, Mercedes is single at the moment and the things she looks for in a man are a sense of humour and a nice butt - good plan! She has a love for acting on stage as she says, "you can get a real feel for the audience," and when asked who she would like to work with she says apart from the obvious, De Niro and Pacino she would like to work with Edward Norton. Brad Pitt gets a mention from someone in the audience and she laughs as she admits, "Brad Pitt, oh yeah he's cute but he's taken so what would be the point!" She would love to play the role of Joan of Arc but maybe when she is a little older! Mercedes does not watch much TV and tends to tune in for a handful of programs like Sex In The City, Sopranos, and of course Buffy and Angel! She is a major music fan and her favourite type is Hip Hop and she laughs as she adds, "But I will not listen to Country!" which results in a round of applause.
"I thought they said touchdown and I hauled ass by myself . . ."

Her most embarrassing moment (in real life) happened when she was at school, "I was about 14 and a cheerleader. The Junior Varsity got to join in with the Varsity cheerleaders for the Homecoming game, the biggest game of the year. So we are all cheering and when they yell Îtouchdownâ all the cheerleaders are supposed to go the end of the field and form this big pyramid. They yelled 'first down', I thought they said touchdown and I hauled ass by myself, all the way to the end of the field and the whole crowd started to laugh at me and then I had to walk all the way back, and then as soon as I got back they yelled touchdown!" everyone in the audience is in fits of laughter at this point. Not surprisingly Mercedes does not follow football at all these days!
As for the future, Mercedes may well appear towards the end of Season 6 Buffy and as she has British Citizenship she is hoping she may get a part in the BBC spin off show, The Watcher centred around the character of Giles, played by Anthony Stewart Head (although that is not something that has been formally discussed at present). That would be cool though, hope she does!
For the main part though Mercedes says, "I just want to continue acting for as long as I can." I for one hope she is around for a long time as I think she is fab!
Elizabeth Anne Allen
Finally! No more cheese! Redbull please, Sean.

I can not say enough great things about Elizabeth Anne Allen, she is lovely in every sense of the word. She has a very dry sense of humour, is very funny and manages with ease to captivate the audience! She grew up in a small town in Upstate New York and although she loved acting she says, "It really seemed so far away, like a different world and I didn't really think it was something realistic. So I went to school, got my degree (in Psychology) and then one day I thought, 'What the heck!' and went off and tried it. I have been hooked ever since!" Elizabeth started out doing 'extra' work and one of the first things she ever did was Baywatch. She laughs as she recounts the story, "I went to the beach for Baywatch and I reversed over a grid and got stuck (she had punctured her tires on the 'Do Not Backup' spikes while parking). Two guys came running over to help and I said, 'Oh hey, I am your token actress'. I think they were charmed by the fact that I had no idea what I was doing and one guy asked, 'Would you like to do some lines?' and I thought he was asking me to do something else," she laughs, "So I said 'no thank you I don't do that stuff!' He then said 'No, no would you like a part in the show?' And so she ended up being on the show for a few months. She jokes, "I got really good at doing the hair flip and dip!" reducing the audience to hysterics.
