It’s an annual event when Los Angeles, California is taken over by more than just one Slayer or one Watcher or even a small band of renowned Scooby Gangers. But rather, February 16th and 17th saw a weekend gathering of Bronzers, better known to non-slayer types as Buffy and ANGEL fans who log onto the Internet and chat it up with other fans all over the world in a posting forum called The Bronze. Each February, the Committee for the PBP hosts the affair that any fan of the two shows, created by Joss Whedon, would die to attend and these invitations are as precious as Willie Wonka’s Golden Tickets! You must register online when the event is announced in November and in past years it has shut down in less than 5 minutes, only allowing 350 fans to attend. This year, CityofAngel.com got lucky and a few of its staff made the cut. The CoA Posse for the weekend included DK, Raciella, Swoop, Nikka, Seeker, Darcie, Lillian, Lynne, Edward and Rod. What makes this event extra special is that not only can fans finally meet those they chat with on a regular basic to discuss, debate and speculate on the series but it is also a charity event where they raise money for the local Make-A-Wish Foundation. Of course, the best part according to fans though, is that there is always a great showing of the cast and crew from both shows! They are allowed to mingle with the guests and it’s one of those rare occasions where the two can meet in the best of party atmospheres and the response is fantastic! The following recaptures most of the weekend events in all its amazing Glory, ‘no pun intended, although there are more!’ Read carefully, the VIP’s did give us a few goodies! So ... let’s get to the party!!!

Jymm and Cami of Darling Violetta kick back with their Angel friends, Stephanie [Lailah] and J [Gunn] at the PBP.

Friday Night beckoned in the Pre-party event at The Key Club on Sunset Blvd. in the heart of Hollywood! Right next to famed nightclub, The Roxy and down the street from the infamous Whiskey A-Go-Go! Bronzers entered the atmospheric club to get the first chance to seek out their fellow posters and meet those they’ve become friends with over the months and years. There was a surprise VIP visit by actor Bailey Chase [Graham] of the Initiative commandos, on BtVS. He commented that he “would love to do some more Buffy – I had a great time working on the show!” but he and Mark [Blucas], who is currently filming in Atlanta, are working on other projects so fans can look forward to seeing them very soon. The band, Darling Violetta, now famous for their haunting Theme Music on ANGEL, played for the crowd as the night main attraction. A special extended version of the Angel Theme song was performed as lead singer, Cami Elen blew everyone away with her amazing voice. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed their outstanding performance, many of whom had never seen DV perform live before! We caught up with them after they got off stage for a few spontaneous and fun comments. Jymm Thomas [Guitarist]: “I’m having great fun with the Posting Board Party even though Cami kicked my cable out on my guitar! Looking forward to this whole weekend.”

Cami was quick to defend herself! Cami Elen [Vocals]: “We had a great time tonight and as usual, the PBP people were amazing. The most amazing crowd. We were having so much fun. I unplugged Jymm’s guitar cord, I think I hit Steve in the face with my boa, kicked Atto [Attie, Bassist] but we all enjoyed it!” Steve was getting swamped by the girls, what is it about drummers anyway? Steve McManus [Drummer]: “I’ve got to pop by [CityofAngel.com] more often. I’m kinda new to the whole posting board thing and every time I post up I’m like, ‘okay do I look like a – does anybody even know who I am?’ (laugh) CityofAngel has just been so cool for even behind the scenes reasons that we’re getting a lot of support. And after we posted up over there I noticed a lot of people suddenly hitting us! So I think it’s going to be a long relationship, something beautiful that will last into the ages! It’s just very cool, the internet is our friend and places like you, CityofAngel is kickin’! It’s good stuff.” “Your music is kickin’ so that helps!” “That helps, I got blisters, I was playing!” (laugh)

Saturday Afternoon found many Bronzers headed towards Sherman Oaks to the little mystical bookshop

Bailey Chase had a warm smile for every fan - You should see this man blush!!

on Ventura Blvd. called Dangerous Vision. Said event was an autograph signing by actors Danny Strong [Jonathan] and Bailey Chase from BtVS and Buffy / Angel author Nancy Holder. Fans lined up out the door for an opportunity to meet and greet two of the shows more sly and lovable guys and a woman who can best capture the characters that Joss has so Master-ly developed. Bailey recalls what a blast it was working on the set, Bailey Chase: “An outstanding moment in Joss-verse was when they gave me this AK-47 assault type rifle and they let me shoot it for a couple minutes. That was a pretty awesome moment!” No one was turned away disappointed as everyone got photos, autographs or a few questions answered not to mention all the Buffy goodies on sale from the latest books to the latest official magazine which were a rare find for some fans. Including the Buffy Jonathan Comic book written by Jane Espenson, [Buffy writer] and Danny told us what he thought of it. Danny Strong: “I love it, I think it’s hilarious! I thought the comic book was particularly very funny. It was really well written. It’s just fun being a comic book character, it’s just something kinda cool.” “Being the action hero.” “Exactly! I think Jonathan was meant to be an action hero not sort of a school dweeb. I think the action hero is the true Jonathan, or I’d like to think so at least.” Bronzer, wanttoknow was on hand getting her books signed and told us, “The PBP weekend is actually more than I thought it would be. It’s just great meeting a bunch of the Bronzers. Just having the lunch, getting to know people and of course seeing the VIP’s works too!” “Having a good time?” “Oh, absolutely, absolutely. The two days is just worth the whole week I’m going to be here!”
